Adjustments for Week 8

Well, as I mentioned on the discussion board, my photoshop is currently not working. Hopefully, this problem will be fixed SOOOOOOOOOON. However, I have a few editing features directly on my iPhoto, so I played around quite a bit with the features.

Photo 1
Cloud shot that I took on a hike while on vacation down south. To edit, I slightly over-exposed the photo, increased the contrast by 100%, set the highlights to zero, decreased the shadows and added 100% saturation of color. As a result, the lighting completely changed making this photo look like I took it during a sunset.

Photo 2
River shot I took also while on vacation. To edit, I slightly over-exposed the photo (a little more than photo 1), increased the contrast, increased the highlights by 100%, decreased the shadows, slightly saturated the colors, set the temperature at -41.5 and the tint at -45.5. I know it has one of those "obviously edited" looks to it, but I was having  a bit too much fun playing with the color...

These are great Caitlin! The clouds - wow - I expected a hand or something to come through the hole. :) (That would be a cool one to play around with). What I like about what we are doing is that we can take what we have seen within reality and make it something of our own by changing color, texture, adding, subtracting, creating something that is an expression of ourselves that we put forth for the world to see and perhaps enjoy or are moved by. So if you like how you did the colors on your river picture who cares if it's 'obviously edited' :0) - your having fun and it's art. Mine was 'yawner' this week... category - mundane. ;0)

Caitlin,

Nice work with editing the photos. I really like the river photo. The colors in the second are very warm and pleasing, as if the photo were taken as the sun was setting. It may have a tinge of too much cyan, but again I like, and as Rach said, as long as you like it, oh well for everyone else.

I thought I had already commented to this post... well,

I really like the changes you made on the first picture; you took a cloudy day and made it pretty intense.

The second photo I can relate to. All week I've been adjusting photos and tweaking them to the point of imagination. Looks cool though.

Great job I love the intense color change. Makes the photo look like it the tropics and all the plants are alien. Viva l'art!

What great pictures I love the color change, expecially in the last photo.
