Lightings

I decided to compare and contrast the difference between indoor lighting and outdoor lighting. I had planned on waiting until dark to do my final photo, but conveniently the weather turned from cloudy to sunny (that's New England weather for you!) As you can see, the indoor lighting with a slow light flash caused the color of the dog to soften. The cloudy day shot mixed with the slow light flash provided for vibrant colors both on the grass and the dog's fur. Finally, the sunny day shot (and to be honest I cannot remember what kind of flash I used) is slightly soft on the focus and the colors are slightly muted, but overall it is a decent shot. I took several others, but I found these three had the best contrast and I really liked the second one. Before this class, I did not realize that cloudy days provide for awesome photo's.

Collage...yikes.

Alright - I had a lot of trouble with this assignment (hence getting it in 2 1/2 hours before the deadline). I had issues with Picassa and Collagr; I guess I have a lot to learn! So here's what I did: I am still getting aquatinted with my mac, and as much as I love it I'm afraid I don't know too much about it. So, I finally gave up, created this collage on a powerpoint slide and saved it as in jpg. format. Crazy I know. Anyway, at least I have a collage haha. 

As mentioned before, it took me awhile to get used to the macro setting - I am such a rookie, but I am learning a ton just by playing with the camera... 

I know these are really small, even when you click on them - sorry about that. *sigh* It was a frustrating process. You can see all of these full-size on flickr. 

Macro shots: 1st attempt

well, my collage will be here as soon as I can figure it out, but here are other macro shots. This was my first attempt, and I took more than 20 shots, but when I got back I realized most of them were blurry. I tried a different subject (mainly because I had driven to photograph my first subject). Again, many of them were blurry until I had a "oh-that-was-obvious" moment.... I forgot to put the flash on haha. Anyway, here are a couple from my first photoshoot that I liked

silhouettes

To be honest, I love silhouette shots, but I have not done a ton of them (sorry if I misled you earlier) I would like to work on more shots this semester - I have also been in a couple photo's that are silhouettes, and I love them! Maybe once my friend uploads them I can share them with the class

COMPARE/CONTRAST

As I studies the photo's, I could not find too many comparisons. They are obviously both of the same sign, and the color quality is similar. However, the angles and perspective make them very different photo's. Photo A was my first photo of this shoot. I chose it due to the fact that it gave the full perspective of the mountain surroundings and the rocky terrain. Photo B offers a totally different perspective and focuses more on the detail of the sign. You can only read two of the signs in photo B, and the colors of each sign appear darker.
