I thought this bark looked pretty cool...

This one went a little better... I cropped the photo, "fixed" the lighting on the guitar, made the body of the guitar red, and made all of her hair pink instead of just the top. The guitar got a little messed up... but still learning :-)

Rose Petals Found in a River Down South...

I followed the instructions on

I especially focused on lightening the rose petals themselves and the rock. All in all though, I lightened up pretty much the entire picture. 

Edited with iPhoto...too much fun!

Before I even read about the dodge and burn tool, I went through a recent photo shoot and edited them on my iPhoto. Photoshopped photos to come soon! 

At first, I had a lot of trouble with the lighting and the clarity of the water. I played a lot with the lighting, matting, temperature and the sharpness of each photo. For most of them, I had very little idea as to what I was doing - I usually just press buttons until something happens haha. 

Slightly increased saturation

 Increased sharpness by 100% 

Increased the edge blur

Set fade color at 1

Set matte at 2 

Vignette at 6

Increased the shadows 

Slightly lowered the temperature 

Increased the sharpness

Set to Black and white 

Slightly over-exposed the photo 

Slightly increased the contrast 

Increased the shadows 

Increased the sharpness by 100%

This is one of my personal favorites. 

Very very slightly under-exposed the photo

Reduced the saturation of color

I liked how this photo appeared to go from black and white to slight color 

(if looked at from left to right)

Adjustments for Week 8

Well, as I mentioned on the discussion board, my photoshop is currently not working. Hopefully, this problem will be fixed SOOOOOOOOOON. However, I have a few editing features directly on my iPhoto, so I played around quite a bit with the features. 

Photo 1

Cloud shot that I took on a hike while on vacation down south. To edit, I slightly over-exposed the photo, increased the contrast by 100%, set the highlights to zero, decreased the shadows and added 100% saturation of color. As a result, the lighting completely changed making this photo look like I took it during a sunset.

 River shot I took also while on vacation. To edit, I slightly over-exposed the photo (a little more than photo 1), increased the contrast, increased the highlights by 100%, decreased the shadows, slightly saturated the colors, set the temperature at -41.5 and the tint at -45.5. I know it has one of those "obviously edited" looks to it, but I was having  a bit too much fun playing with the color... 

Crop

I really liked how the first one turned out crop - you can see the fisher much better, and I tried to place him more on the thirds.

Cropping the second photo completely changed the perspective of it - I liked that you could see almost the whole tree on the "un-cropped" version, but I also like how the cropped version cleans up the photo a little bit.

Auto-Enhance

Auto-enhancing these photo's made both of them much brighter and the colors more vibrant. I felt like the second photo's enhancement made the water less believable, but I liked the first one.
