This one went a little better... I cropped the photo, "fixed" the lighting on the guitar, made the body of the guitar red, and made all of her hair pink instead of just the top. The guitar got a little messed up... but still learning :-)

I see what you mean about the guitar neck; did you try selecting the area with the magic wand and either adjusting the brightness/contrast or highlights/shadows? Did you use the dodge tool to lighten this?
Very nice job with a combination of cropping and cloning and the lighting adjustment. Such a FUN photo!!
